Salom second in Portugal: vice-Worldchampion Supersport! |
 |
Last race of the worldchampionship Supersport with David Salom who obtains a magnificent second place on the track of Portimao, in Portugal. A special Sunday, for David, who concluded as vice-worldchampion a wonderful season on his birthday. But let’s start at the beginning. All weekend the Spaniard was nearly perfect: trials to frame, with a pole-position obtained in an authoritative way in a flawless lap. The fourth place in the overall ranking indicated to David he had to follow just one strategy: attack. And the first place on the starting grid put him already in the first laps in the ideal condition to say his words until the end. |
And the race? Very hard right from the first lap, with Chaz Davies who turned up the pace and goes off alone ahead. The struggle thus becomes tough for the second place. Salom engages with James Elison one of the most thrilling duels of the season. At the fourteenth lap Elison is in front, with the Spaniard who seems to be content with third place. But in the last laps Salom finds the courage and the class to overtake Elison and earn himself the second place on the podium. An exciting race and incredible result, which gives to David the second position in the final ranking of the worldchampionship Supersport. The joy is big, as well as the proudness of APA with a driver who reflects fully the company values. Quality, commitment, steadiness: all virtues that allow David Salom and APA to have success. |
